What it feels like
Downtown is loud, dense and genuinely convenient. You can walk to the metro, world-class restaurants and the mall, but weekends bring tourist crowds and there is little in the way of parks or quiet.
Dubai's central high-rise district around the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Boulevard, almost entirely apartments.
